The Beginning

Today is the day!

Well… today is kind of the day. You see, today was a rough day. The kind of day that makes you want to run away from home, even at 30, and go hide in the woods while growing all your own food away from society. And because today is THAT kind of day, here is what we are going to do about it:

  1. Find something to be grateful for.
    • I will admit to you, that was very hard today. While this isn’t always easy, especially on hard days, finding things to be grateful for can help put things into perspective. It also serves to remind us of the good things in our lives when everything feels like it is going wrong.
  2. Walk away from whatever is upsetting you.
    • Sometimes, we just need a break, and that is ok. Walking away from what has you most upset can give our brains the opportunity to reset, even for just a few minutes. That reset then allows us to calm down and start thinking more clearly.
  3. Do something that you love.
    • Shit, even do something that you LIKE. It doesn’t have to be something big, like rock climbing or cutting your hair. It could be something small, like having a piece of chocolate, going for a walk, or listening to your favorite song. Today, that thing for me was going to Aldi. In my mind, a bad day can have a positive ending with a trip to Aldi after restock day.

We all have rough days. What is important is that you care for yourself in a heathy way and always remember that tomorrow is a new day.
